The Destination Phillip Island Tourism Conference 2014 is an important opportunity for the industry and community to be informed on tourism trends and network with a range of key stakeholders. We encourage participation in the day from anyone interested in the tourism industry.
The program includes a range of key speakers to provide a stimulating day of presentations and participation with fellow industry members.
The day will conclude with a networking dinner at The Fig and Olive, Cowes to relax and catch up with attendees and hear from our guest speaker Andrew Dwyer newly appointed Chair of Tourism Victoria Board to provide an insight into his journey in tourism and present an update from the Tourism Victoria board.

CEO, Bass Coast Shire Council
Paul joins our Shire after nine years as the CEO of the City of Latrobe, and a long and distinguished public service career which included being awarded the Public Service Medal in the 2012 Queen’s Birthday Honours for his outstanding public service and sustained leadership to the local community. Paul holds a Graduate Diploma of Business Management from Monash University and has completed the Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program at Harvard University. He has also completed the Colloquia program through the Cranlana Programme and is a graduate and member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He holds positions on various community committees and is a Member of Local Government Managers Australia and the International City and County Managers Association.
Director of Marketing, Tourism Victoria
Felicia brings some 20 years’ experience in executive roles across travel, tourism and destination marketing organisations in Australia and the US. She has implemented ground-breaking initiatives that included establishing the first-ever media centre for non-accredited journalists during the Sydney Olympics and was part of the team that originally engineered and launched Victoria’s highly acclaimed Jigsaw campaign.
Director, Hatch Communications
Tina Orr is a Director at Hatch Communications. Her love of travel discoveries, wildlife (especially koalas and penguins) and healthy living, combined with her vast experience and leadership skills, Tina guides the Hatchlings to deliver successful strategic campaigns for clients. Tina has worked in PR roles for the 2008 Paralympic Games and Variety, the children’s charity and started her career in the publicity department of Network Ten. Tina holds a Bachelor of Arts and Post-Graduate Diploma in Media & Communications from The University of Melbourne.
General Manager, Emirates Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa
Joost Heymeijer joined Emirates Hotels & Resorts in September 2005 as Manager Hotel Projects in charge of Emirates Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa, guiding the development through its design, planning, approval stages, construction and eventually opening it as General Manager.
A passionate hotelier, Joost has amassed over twenty five years’ experience in international hospitality and management.
CEO, Victorian Tourism Industry Council
Dianne has enjoyed being Chief Executive of Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC) since January 2012. VTIC is the peak industry Body representing the needs of tourism and events in Victoria, and the organisation behind the Victorian Tourism Conference.
Her previous role was Manager Tourism Partnerships, Parks Victoria, which she undertook for 9 years. Prior to parks, Dianne was Executive Director, Ballarat Tourism and Marketing and Visitor Services Manager at Melbourne Zoo. Dianne has also worked in the hotel and computer industries and has a Bachelor of Economics and Politics from Monash University. Dianne is proud to be an Adjunct Professor, Victoria University – a role in which she can mentor young people into the industry.
Andrew Dwyer has vast experience in the tourism, culinary and media industries. He is currently the Managing Director, Diamantina Touring Company, one of Australia’s leading outback adventure companies. Previously, he was a producer / presenter for a number of media and advertising companies focused on travel. Mr Dwyer is a member of the Alpine Advisory Committee and is a former Board Member of the Victorian Tourism Commission, the founding Chairman of the Victorian Tourism Operators Association (now the Victoria Tourism Industry Council) and was a member of the Forest Policy Planning Advisory Board. Andrew was appointed to the Tourism Victoria Board in 2013 and is a member of the Risk and Audit committee. Mr Dwyer was announced as the new Chair of the Tourism Victoria Board by Tourism and Major Events Minister Ms Louise Asher at the Victorian Tourism Conference on the 15th July.
