We will celebrate the amazing life cycle of the short-tailed shearwater’s as they return to our beautiful Island. This Community Festival is now called the Biyadin Festival the local Aboriginal word for the shearwater.
It will be held on Friday 24th, Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th November 2017.
The Biyadin Festival is continuing to grow and has become an important part of the local cultural landscape. We’ll continue to do our best to grow and develop this community festival through good engagement and participation.
Celebrating the wonderful migration of the Short-tailed Shearwaters, the Biyadin Festival’s activities include:
*Second time running (pardon the pun) there will be a Family Fun Run at Cape Woolamai Saturday morning.
*A wonderful music festival featuring local musicians on the Saturday afternoon at Churchill island.
*The all inclusive street parade which gets everyone BiG or small to come and walk along the main street in Cowes in celebration of the local children’s creations throughout the local schools.
Both days will feature creative, cultural and environmental workshops; music, dance performances, walks and talks, face painting and songs for all ages. So bring the family and invite friends to come for all or part of the Biyadin Festival a FREE event that can only make you feel great and help you learn to love where you live 🙂
